Apple Takes The Top Spot, Overtakes Google
Apple Inc. is on top of the list again! This time it has occupied the first place by over taking the world famous search engine Google Inc. to become the world’s most valuable brand, according to WPP Plc. According to Millward Brown unit of WPP, Apple’s brand value went all the way up to 84% in the past year to a whopping $153.3 billion. Google’s brand lost 2% to $111.5 billion which ended its record on topping the list for four consecutive years. IBM climbed 17% and took the third spot followed by McDonald’s Corp.
The introduction of new versions of iPad, iPhone and iMac has bagged Apple the first place in the ranking. Apple‘s products are the “most wanted” devices and it is the No. 1. seller of tablet computers . It also overtook Washington based Microsoft Corp. as the most-valuable technology company based on the market value in May 2010.
Millward Brown unit’s CEO Eileen Campbell has said,
“It’s clear that every single Apple employee, from Steve Jobs and Tim Cook to the summer interns, see protecting and nurturing that brand as a top priority. Tablet computing also drove value growth not just for Apple, but also for the providers who support yet another networked device.”
The report stated that the social networking giant, Facebook Inc. had a huge 246 percent climb in the brand value to become the No.35 brand at $19.1 billion. Google’s competitor, Baidu Inc. of China became the second fastest climb at 141% to occupy the 29th spot at $22.6 billion. It is also important to know that among the top 100 brands, 12 were from China placing China Mobile Ltd. at the 9th spot and Industrial& Commercial Bank of China Ltd at No.11. Amazon.com Inc. at 14th spot overtook Wal-Mart Stores Inc. which took the 15th turning out to be the most valuable retail brand.
