Google Chrome Grabs Top Spot on App Store
Just a couple of days after being unveiled for iOS devices, Google Chrome browser app has secured the top spot in Apple’s App Store list of ‘Top Free’ apps for iPhones and iPads.
Google launched Chrome for iOS on Thursday at the Google I/O developers conference in San Francisco. Right from when it was launched, it has become the number one free app in the iOS App Store. Google has created dedicated versions of Chrome app for both iPhone and iPad devices.
CNET’s Lance Whitney reported, “Chrome now joins Opera, Dolphin, and other browsers as yet an other alternative to mobile Safari for iOS users. The Chrome app has also made its splash in the Android world, officially out of beta mode and available through Google Play.”
The app offers tabbed browsing, an integrated search and address bar and the ability to switch the position of tabs. Another feature that lets users browse securely without having their history tracked is also available.
One of the major features of Chrome for iOS is the ability to sync tabs, bookmarks and passwords from a PC or notebook Chrome browser to other devices. It also allows users to send Web pages from a PC to any iOS devices, so that they can be read remotely without an Internet connection.
