Google Zeitgeist Reveals Top Searches of 2011

Google has published its Zeitgeist list to highlight the top 10 searches performed by Internet users.

Google Zeitgeist is a look back at the year and its fastest rising search terms. The 11^th Zeitgeist covers a variety of different top 10 lists, including fastest rising, fastest falling and fastest rising on Google Maps. This top 10 list features Rebecca Black at number one, with Google Plus and Ryan Dunn rounding out the top three. iPhone 5 took 6^th place, while Steve Jobs and iPad 2 placing 9^th and10^th respectively.

“When looking at the data, it is fascinating to see the cultural fads and trends that took over the globe, from cupcakes (making top food lists in over a dozen countries) to the Dukan diet and high-profile weddings, but Google was used for much more than staying up to date on the sisters Middleton and Kardashian,” said Google Fellow Amit Singhal.

Amazon’s Kindle Fire is in the first place of the top 10 fastest rising consumer electronics list.
