Users of Twitter can now add color filters to their photo uploads. Twitter made this announcement in an official blog post with a video featuring how this works. This new feature update is made available only for Android and iPhone apps.

“Starting today, you’ll be able to edit and refine your photos, right from Twitter. The latest versions of Twitter for iPhone and Twitter for Android introduce a few new ways to enhance the images you tweet. We’re grateful to our partner, Aviary, for powering our filters and effects,” said Coleen Baik, Senior Designer of Twitter.

Users can make use of any one of the 8 available filters to add a new look and feel to their photos. The filters range from black & white to vintage. Users can view each of their photos as a grid, or swipe through the various options to compare their looks. Users can also crop and pinch to zoom the photos.
The auto-enhance option will make photos appear with balanced light and colors.

Twitter also mentioned that, after introducing the option to add photos to tweets in June 2011, this is their first step forward to improve the entire photo experience. Earlier this week, Instagram disabled photo integration with Twitter.
