Reach2048 is a math puzzle game with simple mechanics: slide same-numbered tiles to add them up until you reach the number 2048. The game guarantees hours of thought-provoking fun for numerate individuals and math lovers of all ages, any time and anywhere. Scores are tallied as the player progresses and, for a touch of competition, are then entered into the leaderboards where you can try to beat other people’s high scores.

Challenges

Most of the challenges that we encountered in this app were concerned with in-game bugs and poor performance. Both impacted the overall enjoyability and transition of the game from start to finish. Another more minor problem was the random crashes that occurred while playing.

Our Solution

Our in-house development team at Dot Com Infoway pinpointed the exact causes of these bugs and crashes and addressed them over time.
They also gradually improved the performance of the entire app, optimised it for the iPhone and iPod, and proceeded to add audio effects to make the gameplay more engaging.

Our Results

The solutions we introduced allowed us to meet our goal of creating a math-centric puzzle game that mimics the feel of an arcade game. It can be launched in seconds, played on the go (even on one’s Apple Watch), and can offer a different challenge with every fresh playthrough.

The performance boosts made the gameplay more smooth and seamless. And the solving of the crashes made sure that every new play session would no longer have to suffer from disruptions.
